For the bird watching lovers, Mabamba swamp should be your number one stop while around Kampala/ Entebbe. The elusive Shoebill will definitely be the bird of the day amongst the many other bird species.

Situated along the shores of Lake Victoria, this wetland is a major point amongst the reasons for most trips to Uganda. It is home to over 300 bird species, therefore it isn’t hard to understand why it welcomes many birders from different parts of the World.

The rare shoebill is the main inviting draw but visitors see other interesting species which appear on the country’s bird list. Some of these are Black egret, black crake, papyrus gonolek, lesser Jacana and a lot more.

Going to this place is only by boat which starts from Entebbe. You can visit this spot on a day tour or multi day safari in Uganda. Besides birds, Mabamba enchants tourists with beautiful views of surrounding vegetation, waterways to name but a few.
