Located in Mengo, this notable place is the royal home for the King of the Baganda, a popular tribe in Uganda. It sits on a large of piece of Land in the outskirts of Kampala city.

Located in Mengo, this notable place is the royal home for the King of the Baganda, a popular tribe in Uganda. It sits on a large of piece of Land in the outskirts of Kampala city.

It mainly consists of banana plantations, trees, shrubs, schools owned by the kingdom, torture chambers and cultural buildings including the residential home of the king and his close relatives.  A tour around takes you to the main tourist spots and these include the torture chambers, fire place, Twekobe, the main building and more.

Twekobe in local language means working together. This unites 52 clans which make up the Buganda Kingdom.

Twekobe building was put up in 1922 by King Daudi Chwa who succeeded his father “King Daniel Mwanga 11” in the year 1887. Moreover Twekobe has four gates each with its own purpose.
