Located on an Island which sits on the waters of Lake Victoria, this protected area is for those who love the chimpanzee primates providing homage to the rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. Currently Ngamba is home to over 50 chimpanzees as well as other species like birds, reptiles, insects and a lot more.

Located on an Island which sits on the waters of Lake Victoria, this protected area is for those who love the chimpanzee primates. Seated on about 100 acres of land, this protected area was established in 1998 to provide home and care to the rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. It is near the Equator in Lake Victoria.

Currently Ngamba is home to over 50 chimpanzees. Besides chimps, Ngamba provides lush habitats to other species like birds, reptiles, insects and a lot more.

Getting to this place is only by boat from Entebbe. Once there you engage in multiple activities like chimpanzee feeding, care giving, food collection, fishing to mention but a few. There is some accommodation for those who wish to stay at the Sanctuary for weeks while volunteering.
