If you need a weekend getaway in Entebbe or Kampala, the Uganda Wildlife Education center is one of them. Renowned as the Entebbe Zoo, this place covers a total area of 51 square kilometers. It is located in Entebbe and was opened in 1952.
It was put up to act as the main reception center for Wildlife viewing and a base for Wildlife conservation and research projects. The Zoo is home to all animals in Uganda’s biodiversity except the Mountain Gorillas.
The list of animals housed at UWEC include chimpanzees, rhinoceros, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, leopards and more. There is also birds like Ostrich, reptiles and insects.
These animals are kept in cages and fed by workers at the center. Different organizations provide financial support towards the well-being of the animals at the Zoo. Besides animal life, there is a kids place for those who are visiting the center with their young ones.
